Dynamite to Publish a New Horror Title Starring Alice Cooper

Dynamite Entertainment announced last week that writer Joe Harris (The X-Files) will be tackling a new unknown in their vast horror brand, an ongoing comic featuring none other than original Prince of Darkness, Alice Cooper. Cooper, the original creator of shock rock before Ozzy Osbourne ever accidentally bit off a bat’s head or Marilyn Manson wore weird contacts, plays himself in the series, but with a twist. Not only will he be represented as the rock n’ roll legend we all know and love, but the public will FINALLY get to see his secretive side offstage as “The Lord of Nightmares” where he is tasked with watching over the dreams of millions and delivering horrific nightmares upon those that deserve it.

For all the die-hard Alice Cooper fans that fear their favorite legendary shock rocker may be inaccurately portrayed, Cooper himself has signed off on the project and will be consulting with the creative team. In an official press release from Dynamite about the announcement, Cooper said:

“I always say the best thing about being in a comic book is that they draw you with great abs! Artistically, for me there is hardly a better medium. There is so much you can do in the form of a comic that we’d never be able to do on stage. It’s just a different way of storytelling and it really has almost limitless possibilities. We’re looking forward to stretching the existing boundaries of the comic medium again. We have new stories to tell, but we’ll do it with the same theatrical, sinister sensibility that comes with the name ‘Alice Cooper.’ This is just the beginning! Welcome to my new Nightmares!”

Alice Cooper will also feature interior art by Eman Casallos, with the first issue featuring a main cover by David Mack (Kabuki), as well as an exclusive photo incentive cover of Alice Cooper himself.  Alice Cooper #1 is set to hit stands sometime in September.  You can check out a preview of some of the upcoming panel art in issue one below.
